From the Classroom

WC at Rivertown Revival

On Saturday morning, as the people of Petaluma donned their best Victorian garb and reached for their aviator goggles and parasols, Watershed Classroom staff and volunteers readied themselves for a fun-filled day of youth education.

A young Rivertown Revival go-er learns how pollutants travel through a watershed environment while playing with a really cool tractor.

With the party going and the bands in full swing, young Petalumans popped in and out of our tent on the banks of the Greatest Slough on Earth. They played and learned about the Petaluma Watershed by interacting with our watershed storm water model, experimenting with our water quality testing kits, and peering with excitement into critter filled bug viewers. Even a few adult children dropped in to try their hand at our "Know Your River" quiz.

The day was as fun as it was informative, which just goes to prove that playing is learning!
