M. Vonsen Company: Rivertown Feed & Pet Country Store

"The following is a student created blog regarding the history of the Petaluma Watershed. This blog is part of a series from students at Casa Grande participating in the Watershed Classroom with educators Paula Biancalana and Jolene Thinnes."

Magnus Vonsen was born in Vallejo, Sonoma County, California. He filled the warehouses full of grain for Petaluma's agricultural community and later became part owner in a grocery, feed and grain store in Petaluma in 1904. The store is now named after him as the M. Vonsen Company, located right next to the river on First Street. During that time he was also interested in minerals and had the opportunity to have a mineral named after him. This feed and grain store is very well known around Petaluma and other towns and is still around today.
